Win the Midwest was founded in 2021, when experienced community organizers produced a report arguing for a new way forward in the Midwest: one that addresses the problem of power, despair, the loss of faith in every level of government, and hope for the future.

This 2022 analysis was based on the fundamental idea that politics happens in the context of community and belonging, and laid out a strategy to build multiracial governing coalitions and flip the current formula from sporadic engagement to year-round integrated organizing and power building program.

In 2024, organizers updated this analysis with a portfolio of research that can be accessed on the Win the Midwest website.
